About this tool
Computer science sits at the intersection of conceptual thinking and concrete code — and a good CS quiz has to test both. This computer science quiz generator builds assessments covering algorithms, data structures, Big O analysis, and computational thinking, with items calibrated to the AP CSP and AP CSA standards for teachers preparing students for the College Board exams.
Ask for a quiz on sorting algorithms and you get items on bubble sort, selection sort, insertion sort, merge sort, and quicksort — with Big O complexity questions that separate students who memorized "O(n log n)" from those who can explain why merge sort beats bubble sort on a 1000-element list. Data structure questions cover arrays, lists, stacks, queues, trees, and hash tables with traversal and operation-cost items.

Computational thinking: decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction
CS assessment splits between conceptual understanding (what does a hash table give you over a list) and code tracing (what does this loop print). The generator produces both — and lets you bias toward one or the other. Code-trace questions use AP CSP pseudocode or AP CSA Java depending on the course, with realistic variable names and common student gotchas (off-by-one loops, scope confusion, reference vs. value).
For AP Computer Science Principles, the generator uses College Board pseudocode, covers the five Big Ideas, and produces items in the multiple-choice format the exam uses. For AP Computer Science A, items shift to Java, covering classes, inheritance, ArrayList, 2D arrays, and recursion. Specify the course and the format adjusts automatically.
How it works
Tell us the topic, grade level, and subject. Paste chapter notes, unit objectives, or a single sentence — whatever you have.
A balanced mix of question types with answer keys and explanations, aligned to the cognitive load you selected.
Review, tweak any question, toggle answers on or off, and export a clean PDF. You stay in control the whole way.

“For Chadwick users, GradeWithAI has improved feedback efficiency and effectiveness, as it is grounded in existing platforms and is highly adaptable.”

“More impressive though is that it corrects student answers not simply using a pre-written answer, but by following the thought process they've pursued.”

“I've really enjoyed using the GradeWithAI program. It saves me a ton of time, especially when I have class sizes of 35 or 36 students times five.”

“GradeWithAI doesn't just grade. It gives the student reasoning as to why every point is awarded or not awarded. That is a very valuable thing for the students.”

“GradeWithAI [provides] students with timely individualized feedback on their homework assignments and formative assessments. This is a job that is virtually impossible for a teacher to do on a regular basis.”

“Students have also appreciated the consistency and immediacy of the feedback I can provide through GradeWithAI. This has enabled them to make necessary corrections and achieve their desired scores on any assignment.”
