About this tool
A multiple-choice spelling test generator sounds like a shortcut, but it's actually a sharper diagnostic than the standard write-the-word format. When you show a student four spellings and ask them to pick the correct one, you force them to confront the exact misspellings they'd produce on their own. That's where the learning happens. This multiple-choice spelling test generator builds each question with one correct spelling and three plausible distractors - misspellings based on predictable error patterns like vowel-swap (recieve/receive), double-consonant confusion (runing/running), and homophones (their/there). Use it for quick daily warm-ups, online quizzes, or a scannable Scantron-style assessment. The generator above does the distractor work for you - no more hand-crafting four variations of 'separate' at 10 p.m.
A bad multiple-choice spelling question gives you 'cat', 'xqz', 'qqq', and 'c@t'. It tests nothing. A good one gives you 'necessary', 'neccessary', 'necesary', and 'nesesary' - four options a real student might actually write. Our generator uses known misspelling patterns (doubled consonants, swapped vowels, silent letter drops, common homophone mix-ups) to build distractors that diagnose real confusion.
4 options per question (1 correct, 3 plausible misspellings)

Bubble-sheet compatible layout (A/B/C/D)
For each target word, the multiple-choice spelling test generator above analyzes the letter patterns and applies the most common error types: if the word contains 'ie' or 'ei' it generates the reversed-vowel distractor; if it ends in a doubled consonant before a suffix it generates the single-consonant distractor; if it has a silent letter it drops that letter. You get a test that actually surfaces misconceptions.
Works beautifully as a five-minute bell-ringer, a no-print Google Form, or a pre-test diagnostic before a unit. Because distractors reveal specific error types, you can clump wrong answers by pattern and re-teach the pattern instead of the word. Six kids all picked 'seperate' over 'separate'? Teach the 'e-a' syllable pattern, not 14 individual words.

“For Chadwick users, GradeWithAI has improved feedback efficiency and effectiveness, as it is grounded in existing platforms and is highly adaptable.”

“More impressive though is that it corrects student answers not simply using a pre-written answer, but by following the thought process they've pursued.”

“I've really enjoyed using the GradeWithAI program. It saves me a ton of time, especially when I have class sizes of 35 or 36 students times five.”

“GradeWithAI doesn't just grade. It gives the student reasoning as to why every point is awarded or not awarded. That is a very valuable thing for the students.”

“GradeWithAI [provides] students with timely individualized feedback on their homework assignments and formative assessments. This is a job that is virtually impossible for a teacher to do on a regular basis.”

“Students have also appreciated the consistency and immediacy of the feedback I can provide through GradeWithAI. This has enabled them to make necessary corrections and achieve their desired scores on any assignment.”
