About this tool
A spelling test generator should do more than stamp 10 words onto a page. The weekly quiz is where teachers check whether students can actually encode a word from sound to print, which means the test format matters as much as the words. This spelling test generator builds a proper weekly assessment: each word is shown in a sentence you can read aloud, students write only the target word on a numbered response line, and the answer key flags the tricky spellings so grading goes fast. Use it with a Monday word list and you'll have Friday's quiz ready in under a minute. Works with any word set - grade-leveled, Dolch, Fry, content-area vocabulary, or your own paste-in list. The generator above calibrates sentence difficulty to the grade band you choose.
Reading a word in isolation ('spell RAIN') tests recall. Reading it in a sentence ('The RAIN soaked my backpack. RAIN.') tests whether the student can hold the word in working memory while parsing context - closer to real writing. Our generator produces a teacher-facing read-aloud script with each word wrapped in a natural sentence, and a student-facing answer sheet that only shows numbered lines. That split is the difference between a spelling test and a vocabulary test in disguise.

Paste a list, pick a grade-level preset, or pull from Dolch or Fry word banks. The spelling test generator above accepts 5 to 25 words per quiz. For early readers we recommend 8 to 10; by third grade you can push to 15; fifth grade handles 20 comfortably.
Testing without practice is a recipe for a demoralizing Friday. Use the same word list to build a practice worksheet (trace, write, use-in-a-sentence) on Monday or Tuesday, then run the test on Friday. Students who've written each word four times in practice almost always pass.

“For Chadwick users, GradeWithAI has improved feedback efficiency and effectiveness, as it is grounded in existing platforms and is highly adaptable.”

“More impressive though is that it corrects student answers not simply using a pre-written answer, but by following the thought process they've pursued.”

“I've really enjoyed using the GradeWithAI program. It saves me a ton of time, especially when I have class sizes of 35 or 36 students times five.”

“GradeWithAI doesn't just grade. It gives the student reasoning as to why every point is awarded or not awarded. That is a very valuable thing for the students.”

“GradeWithAI [provides] students with timely individualized feedback on their homework assignments and formative assessments. This is a job that is virtually impossible for a teacher to do on a regular basis.”

“Students have also appreciated the consistency and immediacy of the feedback I can provide through GradeWithAI. This has enabled them to make necessary corrections and achieve their desired scores on any assignment.”
