Word problems that don't repeat
The word-problem generator varies the scenario — sports, animals, food, measurement, time — across every item so students aren't pattern-matching. Specify a context (sports, ancient Egypt, zoo) or let the generator vary.

Maya planted 8 rows of sunflowers. Each row has 12 plants. How many sunflowers did she plant?
At the zoo, 3 pandas eat 4 kg of bamboo each per day. How much bamboo do they eat in a week?
A soccer team scored 36 goals over 6 games. What was their average per game?

About this tool
Basic algebra is the starter layer — one-variable linear equations, simple expression simplification, straightforward inequality solving. This basic algebra problems generator targets 7th–8th graders in their first algebra course, or high schoolers who need remediation before Algebra 1 proper. Problems keep coefficients modest (usually 1 through 10), solutions integer-valued, and procedures focused on the isolate-the-variable sequence. Every worksheet is fresh and ships with an answer key. Run the generator above — prompt "basic algebra problems, 20 questions, two-step linear equations" — and a printable drops.
Basic algebra in our definition means one-variable linear equations where coefficients are small integers, solutions are integers, and procedures are limited to: simplify each side, apply inverse operations, check the solution. It also includes evaluating expressions at given variable values, combining like terms, and interpreting variable expressions. This is the pre-Algebra-1 / early-Algebra-1 scope.
Coefficients stay 1–10. Constants stay under 30. Operations stay to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers. Two-step problems are the ceiling by default — prompt for "one-step only" for early instruction. Word problems are available but kept simple (age problems, small consecutive-integer problems). Answer keys show the isolated variable value clearly.
One-step equations (x + 7 = 15)
Two-step equations (3x + 4 = 19)
Simple expression evaluation
Basic like-term combining
Deploy as front-loading work in Algebra 1 unit 1, as a bridge program for summer between 8th and 9th grade, or as intervention material when a student stalls on multi-step equations. Chain with the pre-algebra problems generator underneath for students who need to shore up integer operations first.
How it works
Operation(s), grade level, format (drill or word problems), and item count.
Lock a context (sports, animals, food). Set difficulty (easy, medium, hard).
Copy the text or print directly. Toggle the answer key for teacher vs. student version.

“For Chadwick users, GradeWithAI has improved feedback efficiency and effectiveness, as it is grounded in existing platforms and is highly adaptable.”

“More impressive though is that it corrects student answers not simply using a pre-written answer, but by following the thought process they've pursued.”

“I've really enjoyed using the GradeWithAI program. It saves me a ton of time, especially when I have class sizes of 35 or 36 students times five.”

“GradeWithAI doesn't just grade. It gives the student reasoning as to why every point is awarded or not awarded. That is a very valuable thing for the students.”

“GradeWithAI [provides] students with timely individualized feedback on their homework assignments and formative assessments. This is a job that is virtually impossible for a teacher to do on a regular basis.”

“Students have also appreciated the consistency and immediacy of the feedback I can provide through GradeWithAI. This has enabled them to make necessary corrections and achieve their desired scores on any assignment.”
