Mixed multiplication and division word problems ask students to decide whether a story wants a product (4 groups of 6) or a quotient (24 split into 4 equal groups). This generator writes mixed sets for grades 3-5, with an answer key on a separate page.
The inverse connection
3.OA.B.6 asks students to understand division as an unknown-factor problem: 28 ÷ 4 means 'what times 4 is 28?' Putting both operations on one page helps students see that 4 × 7 = 28 and 28 ÷ 4 = 7 describe the same relationship.
